Digital Certificates for Business Names – commencing July 2016

The CRO will issue all Business Name Certificates as ‘digitally certified’ documents from early quarter 3 2016.

The digital Business Name Certificates will replace the paper Business Name Certificates which are currently posted to presenters. The presenter will receive the new Digital Certificate by email immediately following registration of the business name.

There is no change to the existing procedure to register a business name.

What presenters should do:

• When completing a business name form, either manually or in CORE, ensure that the email address is entered in the required field as this is the email address to which the digital certificate will be emailed.
• Forms which do not contain an email address will be rejected.

New Procedure for Certification:

• Following registration, the presenter will receive an email with the heading ‘Certificate of Registration of Business Name’.
• This email will contain the Digital Certificate as a PDF document.
• This is the Certificate of Registration of the Business Name – ensure that you save this carefully.
• Presenters can provide these digital certificates directly to third parties by email if required.

The format of and details contained in the Certificates will not change.
